WHO IS THE REAL MINORITY?
As the election season is near, I couldn't help but notice the negativity propagated by partisans and staunch supporters of the opposition parties. As a student, from the very beginning of my studies, my books have taught me how flexible our democracy is and how our preamble exhorts us to be just in all spheres of life. But I've always wondered if this plethora of goodness which is instilled in us really helps us to tackle different types of situations.
I say so because recently, I came across a news where a Hindu man was assaulted by a group of Muslim men as the former was playing Hanuman Chalisa in his shop. I'm not biased towards any one religion but having been a neutral spectator for some time, my stance on such matters has organically been influenced by interpreting who's the lesser evil.
While I was ruminating this news, I had several other epiphanies where I realized how news of atrocities faced by my Hindu brothers and sisters on a daily basis are suppressed and not made known to a huge number of the population. This made me ponder about what would have happened if the same thing took place if the parties were interchanged, well, let me tell you; numerous liberals would've taken stand and various who's who would've commented publicly on how minorities are treated by the majority.
I find it hugely ironic how people are ready to give support to the men and women who have been, and MAY always be a potential threat to them in this state.
One more case that supports my viewpoint is how the implementation of the CAA bill has been antagonized by the Muslims. What I don't understand is why are they so opposed to this? It doesn't violate them in any area, moreover it actually helps the non-Muslim minorities who have arbitrarily been facing brutalities by Muslims in countries where the latter is in majority.
Although they claim to follow secularism, I've never seen any Muslim adhering to it whatsoever, (contrary to this I've actually seen them blatantly announcing verses of the "holy" Quran and how it teaches them to kill anyone who doesn't follow Islam) but if they claim so, shouldn't they have been more welcoming about the bill?
Another case that brought with it sheer shock was the two Muslim men who slit the throats of two Hindu boys. One of the culprits was shot in an encounter with the police. This caused every sympathizer to comment on the "immorality" shown by the government on minorities, but the saddening part is how no liberal spoke against the criminals.
If, after writing this I seem to be a blind supporter or a fanatic Hindu, then let me be called so because in a country where the majority itself is being killed and NO ONE dares to say a word against the guilty minority then I don't think it is about the elections anymore, it's about protecting yourself in the long run by spreading awareness of such inhumane crimes.
